Committee Chairs

Included is a brief description of the LMMS PTSA Committees and the Board of Directors contact information.  Please email the following Board Members if you are interested in volunteering or want further information (click on their names). The following committees are supported by the LMMS PTSA organization:

Biscuit Sales:
This committee sells biscuits every Thursday to students, parents & staff.
Chairperson:

Communications:
This committee gathers information from the school, students and all other committees as well as local and national PTSA information . Chairperson:  Tiffany Hare 

Community Outreach:
This committee coordinates programs to benefit the community. Examples are back to school drives, clothing drives, food drives and community service projects.

Duty Free Lunch:
This committee coordinates volunteers to oversee the lunchrooms once a month, so that teachers can have lunch without the students.

Email Coordinator:
This committee adds new parents and their email addresses to the database for school wide communications.   Weekly email blasts are sent out relaying timely news to LMMS families.  They are also responsible for keeping the email database up to date.

Environmental:
Volunteers help with school grounds beautification, recycling and other environmental projects.

Fundraising:
This committee assists with the Eagle Donation Fundraiser.

Hearing and Vision:
Volunteers coordinate the annual vision and hearing screening for 7th grade students.

Honors Program:
This committee assist in the academic excellence program which rewards students with an A and/or A/B average.

Hospitality:
This committee assists in supplying food and drink for various PTSA functions including Teacher Appreciation Week, Bus Driver Appreciation Week and others.

Media Center:
Volunteers assist the Media Center Staff and reshelves books.

Membership:
This committee implements ideas to promote and encourage membership in the LMMS PTSA.

Office Volunteers:
Volunteers assist in the front office approximately once a month, for 2 hour shifts. Training is provided.

Parent Involvement:
Assists in surveying parents and/or students on topics that interest them and designs programs/seminars to provide information on topics of interest. Also co-ordinates with other schools to communicate these events so that they can attend seminars as well.

Picture Day:
Volunteers assist the photography company by getting students through the picture day lines.

Red Ribbon Week:
Assists in coordinating events for anti drug campaign for students in the fall.

Reflections:
This committee coordinates the annual competition of art, music, photography, video/film, dance and literature.

School Store:
Volunteers staff the school store every morning before school. Items for purchase include spirit wear, and many school supplies for the students.

Student Events:
Volunteers assist by grade level at various parties and other grade level events.

The Board of Directors consists of the:

  • officers of the association (elected),
  • chairpersons of standing committees (appointed), and
  • principal of the school or a representative appointed by the principal to represent him or her.

The duties of the Board of Directors are to:

  • transact necessary business in the intervals between association meetings and such other business as may be referred to it by the association,
  • create of dissolve standing or special committees,
  • present a report at the regular meetings of the association,
  • select an auditor or an auditing committee to audit the treasurer’s accounts,
  • prepare and submit a budget for the fiscal year to the association for adoption,
  • approve routine bills within the limits of the budget,
  • fill all vacancies in office, and
  • conduct hearings for removal from office.

The Board of Directors does not have the authority to make or authorize expenditures that are not in the budget. All money spent must be voted on by the membership.
