Please mark your calendars for February 2, 2012 from 6:30pm - 7:15pm to attend the next PTSA General Meeting and LMMS 20th Anniversary Celebration and Naming Ceremony. Please come out and Celebrate the 20 year Anniversary of Lost Mountain Middle with many of the original faculty members. Lost Mountain Middle School will also be honoring an original PE teacher, Del Edwards, by naming the gymnasium after him!
Volunteers Needed for the LMMS PTSA Nominating Committee
We are looking for two PTSA members who would be willing to serve on the 2012 Nominating Committee. The Nominating Committee is a special committee that has the responsibility of nominating an eligible person for each office of LMMS PTSA for the School Year 2012 - 2013. Any member who has a paid current membership in the LMMS PTSA is eligible to serve on the nominating committee. If you are interested in serving on the Nominating Committee please send an email to Dr. Downs at robert.downs@cobbk12.org by Friday January 27, 2012 indicating your willingness to serve.
2012 Proposed Amendment to the Lost Mountain Middle School PTSA Bylaws
Amendment # 1: To amend Article V: Membership and Dues – Section 7, Lines 119 and 120, Page 2 by striking five dollars ($5.00) and inserting six dollars ($6.00).
Currently reads: Each member of this local PTA/PTSA shall pay annual dues of $5.00 to said association. The amount of such annual dues shall include the portion payable to the Georgia PTA and the portion payable to the National PTA.
If adopted, will read: Each member of this local PTA/PTSA shall pay annual dues of $6.00 to said association. The amount of such annual dues shall include the portion payable to the Georgia PTA and the portion payable to the National PTA.
(Proviso - effective 2012-13 school year).
Rationale:The Lost Mountain Middle School PTSA’s proposed dues increase from $5.00 to $6.00 per member is to cover the $.50 increase in the National PTA dues and the $.50 increase in the Georgia PTA dues approved in 2011. The National PTA increased its dues from $1.75 to $2.25 effective July 1, 2011 and the Georgia PTA will increase its dues from $1.00 to $1.50 effective July 1, 2012.
Parents - Go ahead and mark your calendars if you are interested in the following Free Parenting Class being offered at Lost Mountain in February of this school year. The class will be facilitated by Success for All Schools which is with the Cobb County School District and the Lost Mountain Middle School counselors. Below is the information:
The Guiding Good Choices parenting program is a 3-week class for parents and caregivers of elementary and middle school children. Workshops cover:
